It’s Happening For You
One of the strongest beliefs I carry in my soul is that everything in my life is happening for me. This belief is hard to swallow sometimes—especially when what’s happening is more challenging for me to manage, like when I get injured or a tragic event occurs.
This belief is what got me through a divorce, through a head injury and through lots of loss in my life. It’s also helped to spring me into new partnerships, many amazing adventures to new countries and epic life changing road trips. You’ve got to take the “good” with the “bad” with this belief but in my experience this belief is food for the soul.
If you can alleviate your soul, your heart, and your deepest knowing from the belief that there is a good and a bad way for things to be, you will save yourself a lot of heartache and trauma. I’ve found that these labels of good vs. bad can stifle our growth, our knowing and our ability to experience the full capacity of our soul.
I love to remind myself that everything that happens to us is neither good nor bad—it just is. Deep meditation experiences have helped me to increase my ability to hold this belief throughout my life. It allows me to see things from a bird’s eye view. Another way to put it is like when we can see what others need to do SO clearly but they can’t see it themselves. Mediation practices help us be that good friend for ourselves that tells us the unbiased truth. This is why I practice meditation, yoga, dance, journaling, nature meditations— to get out of my immediate reality and be able to grasp a new perspective. From experience, I know that when you practice these techniques enough, your life can become a living breathing meditation where you can handle whatever is in your path.
Imagine for a moment that all of the things, whether you label them good or bad, are happening for you so your soul can grow. Sometimes what we first perceive as “bad’ can end up being the start to something beautiful in hindsight. The gift you can give yourself through your awareness is hindsight in the present moment. It’s a difficult pill to swallow sometimes but it can help you deeply understand your soul and your journey in this life.
I invite you to look at something in your life that you’ve labeled “bad”. Look inside of it, flip it and investigate it like a scientist, an alchemist. Is there a message hidden for you in this? Is there a deep lesson trying to reveal itself to you?
I believe there’s always lessons and messages in all the things that come into our experience. It’s not always easy to confront and look into them, but it’s always rewarding. Different longings, projects, and soul callings can come out of being with “what is” in your life. Treat it like a gift. Now I’m not saying to disregard your emotions and play pretend like it’s all hunky dory. Quite the opposite. Feel into what you feel, see what’s there, find what’s sticking out at you, grab support from a therapist or soul guide to help you peel back the layers, transform it and be rebirthed into the next version of you—a more equipped and capable version with a new knowing.
Think about it like getting a scar or mark from an experience you’ve had. To heal the initial wound, you need support and awareness from yourself and a trusted support team (like a doctor if you need to get stitched up or in the case of soul work, a practitioner or team of them) then you need time to heal (to integrate the experience) and now you go back into your life with a mark that reminds you of the new knowledge you’ve gained from the experience. Scars and wounds help teach us about both our limitations and our capabilities as well as our vigor for life. They show us how to be adventurous and how to learn from our mistakes.
Can you take something in your life that’s been a challenge or maybe something that’s going exceedingly well and see what happens when you dig into the “why” behind it being there? Ask: Why is this showing up for me on my journey right now? What am I learning right now about myself or others? What kind of support do I need? Can I support myself?
If it’s all happening for you, then there’s always a purpose and an opportunity to learn or grow from every event in your life. You don’t have to be the victim. You can be the hero on your own hero’s journey. You got your back. Trust in the unfolding of your life path and grab support where you need it.
All my love,
Kay
