Deciding to Listen

Will it take crisis to wake you up to your inner spark? That divine genius that is unique to you? Or will you choose creativity and peace to tune into your authenticity?

Each one of us sees and experiences the world through a different lens. We are unique in this way. I often reflect on the miracle that we can even communicate and understand one another since our minds operate and interpret reality so differently.

I can tell you a story about myself, that I’m sure you’ve heard before whether it was something you witnessed in another, or perhaps you’ve had a meeting with this exact kind of situation yourself. Here’s what happened to me:

** It took crisis (the cry for decision) for me to wake up to my inner genius (which we all have). It took my then husband of 8 years leaving me in the dust in the middle of a global pandemic (for someone else) for me to see how misaligned with my purpose I truly was. How deeply unhappy I was, how lost I was, and ultimately how misguided I was.

It took another crisis of cracking my head open on a surf trip to really get the memo. Once I decided to listen. Deeply and completely. I found myself surfing the waves of life rather than being tossed by them…**

Ignoring the cues of our being and our soul purpose is detrimental to our life on earth. Our soul knows the way and will come knocking to remind us of our value of being uniquely who we are if we forget or if we get wrapped up in inauthenticity.

Have you ever known someone to have a story like this or maybe it was a medical diagnosis they were given that changed their life? For example, someone finds out they only have 6 months to live, quits their job, joins a band etc…this epic moment we decide to live our lives over living someone else’s dream.

One thing I know for certain is that one day, death does come knocking and we will be faced with the question “Did I live well?”

Don’t let crisis be the reason you change. Let life and your passion for it be the reason you make a shift towards alignment with joy.

Change before you experience a crisis and start living life in your soul, in your fire, and in your purpose.

You only get one body this lifetime, take good care of it and be who you came here to be. Remember to have lots of grace for yourself and others as walking this road can be challenging. May you find joy, strength and love along the way and may you always remember who you are.
